Seeing Circles: Inattentive Response-Coupling

چکیده
What is attention? On one influential position, attention constitutively the selection of some stimulus for coupling with a response. Wayne Wu has proposed master argument this position that relies on claim cognitive science commits to an empirical sufficient condition (ESC), according which, if subject S perceptually selects (or response-couples) X guide performance experimental task T, she therein attends X. In paper I show about false. Cognitive allows inattentive selection-for-task, or response-coupling. This means Wu’s account without independent support.

Seeing circles: what limits shape perception?
Humans are remarkably adept at judging shapes and discriminating forms. Forms and shapes are initially sampled by discrete localized visual filters (or receptive fields) in 'early' stages of visual processing. However, more complex higher level filters which integrate or pool information from many local filters may be needed to discern shapes. In order to understand the mechanisms that limit sh...
متن کاملInattentive Producers
I present and solve the problem of a producer who faces costs of acquiring, absorbing, and processing information. I establish a series of theoretical results describing the producer’s behaviour. First, I find the conditions under which the producer prefers to set a plan for the price he or she charges, or instead prefers to set a plan for the quantity he or she sells. Second, I show that the a...
متن کاملSeeing Circles and Drawing Ellipses: When Sound Biases Reproduction of Visual Motion
The perception and production of biological movements is characterized by the 1/3 power law, a relation linking the curvature and the velocity of an intended action. In particular, motions are perceived and reproduced distorted when their kinematics deviate from this biological law. Whereas most studies dealing with this perceptual-motor relation focused on visual or kinaesthetic modalities in ...
متن کاملPlant Cytokinesis: Circles within Circles
The current model of the plant cytokinetic apparatus, describing it as being composed of treadmilling microtubules, is challenged by a new study showing that these microtubules display dynamic instability.
متن کاملSeeing Seeing
This paper discusses several key issues concerning consciousness and human vision. A brief overview is presented of recent developments in this area, including issues that have been resolved and issues that remain unsettled. Based on this, three Hilbert questions are proposed. These involve three related sets of issues: the kinds of visual experience that exist, the kinds of visual attention th...
